https://www.onthisday.com/music/birthdays/january/9http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/born_todayhttp://www.hillbilly-music.com/artists/index.phpIt's "Big" Al Downing's birthday, no, not that Al Downing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Downing_(musician)This Al, "Big Al Downing":
Al Downing played with Bobby Poe and the Poe Boys, they recorded on White Rock records in Dallas, so a mixed race group in the 1950s. Looks like the video says they are in the Kansas Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Big Al, like Wanda Jackson, appears to have been born in Oklahoma.
"Rock and Roll Boogie"
! No longer availableSolo with the Poe Kats.
"Down On The Farm"
! No longer availableAl was proficient on the piano, he plays it on the Queen of Rockabily's, Wanda Jackson's big hit, "Having a party", a time-honored classic to many, at least for Rockabilly.
! No longer availableSo, there are a lot of birthdays today, that's one, some others...
Steven Harwell of Smash Mouth, this organ, though a different sound per distortion is very Doorsy to me.
"Walking On The Moon"
! No longer availableNone other than Joan Baez, I may not always like her politics but she has a great voice and I think a new album coming out at sometime in the near future:
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" performed in Norway.
! No longer availableAnd maybe a bit hidden, tucked away here, Jimmy Page's birthday as well:
"Rock and Roll"
! No longer availableCrystal Gayle, Loretta Lynn's sister and does one know, she has hair that goes (or went) all the way to the ground, well, maybe just past her hips in the video, her wikipedia bio indicates she was called something like Rapunzel.
"Don't it make my brown eyes blue"
! No longer availablehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_GayleVic Mizzy, apparent soundtrack artist on the Addams Family and other shows and movies:
Theme from "The Love God?" movie.
! No longer availableI never saw this with Don Knotts, shades of Austin Powers from the looks of it, maybe it's not too good of a movie, I believe in looking at Vic Mizzy's works rather quickly, he also did the organ in "Ghost and Mr. Chicken". On the topic of Don Knotts, Mr. Chicken and the Reluctant Astronaut rate as pretty good comedies to me, so where has this "Love God" been? Maybe it was for mature audiences? I'll look it up some time.
Dick Yount, Harpers Bizarre, the 2nd day in a row with this group I believe. Yesterday was a different member, not the same one.
"59th Bridge Street Song (Feelin' Groovy)"
! No longer availableAnd actually, more birthdays to come later, we will see.
Yes, NY Dolls again, with David Johannsen and others.
"Personality Crisis"
! No longer availableIncluding Buddy Scott, "Never be the same"
! No longer available
