Lawsuit Takes California to Task for Failing to Educate All Students

California has shirked its constitutional responsibility to educate all students, a lawsuit alleges, by not intervening as the number of students who can't read continues to climb.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleges that the Golden State isn't so golden when it comes to teaching students how to read, it's not intervening in places where students are performing the worst.

Two things quickly come to mind on this:

You can lead a student to water but you can't make him, her, zim, zee, biological being, etc., drink.

This segues to maybe the schools are too involved in social justice "education" and ignore the core subjects.

I suppose if you throw in the vast numbers of illegals who don't speak English, you have a prescription for failure of all.

The fact is that most of these illegals have no desire to learn English and factually have no need to with the government, both state and federal, pandering to them and providing translated material and translators. My parents came to America not speaking any English, like many Europeans in the early part of the last century and before, but they made the effort to learn the language of their new country and made sure their children did. Many of the Hispanics stealing into the United States don't and never will consider it their country.

One other (and probably more significant) factor:
