First lady Melania Trump and second lady Karen Pence picked up lunch at Whataburger, a regional fast food chain, during their trip to visit areas affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas on Wednesday and also treated their traveling press pool to a meal.

A senior aide to the first lady tweeted a picture of the pair at the counter of the Corpus Christie restaurant with the caption: “On our way out of town, @FLOTUS & @SecondLady decided to stop in to @Whataburger for some lunch! The American chain opened its 1st restaurant in Corpus Christi, TX in 1950!”

Good stuff.  I avoid fast food as much as I can while I'm on the road, but it's hard to resist Whataburger when I'm in OK and AR.  It's bad enough I live in KC, with so many tasty barbecue places.

Sounds like you have never tasted a Whataburger, friend Frank.  They are actually among the best fast-food burgers in the country.  McDonald's taste like cardboard by comparison, IMO.

For take out, Backyard Burger is pretty decent.  I don't really know where all they are though.  There was a new one built by the University when I lived in that area.



And Zaxby's is my preference for chicken.

Nice of the ladies to treat for lunch though.

I wouldn't recommend it for just any old meal, but if you're on the road and want something quick and not as greasy as a burger they have a lot of healthier options that are decent and the fried chicken is pretty good too.

I live about 2 blocks from a Culvers. My son worked there when he was in school. Butterburgers, yummy. I finally figured it out and now, my husband says I make the best burgers. Maybe I should not have done that.
