On July 1, 2015, while walking with her father on a pier in San Francisco, 29-year-old Kate Steinle was shot and killed by Jose Garcia Zarate, an illegal alien and convicted felon who had been deported from the United States five times. Zarate claimed that he accidentally shot the gun, which he said he found under a bench. On Nov. 30, 2017, a jury acquitted Zarate of all murder and manslaughter charges.
In a Tweet on Nov. 30, James Woods said,
"#KateSteinle will leave an enduring legacy. The stunning depravity of her murderer's acquittal will be a turning point in American history. The lines are drawn. #BuildTheWall."
