Tillerson under pressure after White House plan leaks

Rex Tillerson’s days at the State Department appear to be numbered. 

Speculation about Tillerson’s future as secretary of State reached a fever pitch on Thursday after multiple reports detailed a White House plan to replace him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

The White House stopped short of denying the reports and refused to say whether President Trump still has confidence in his embattled top diplomat.

White House chief of staff John Kelly called the State Department on Thursday to shoot down media reports that a plan had been developed to remove Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, according to agency spokeswoman Heather Nauert.

Nauert said at a department press briefing that Tillerson shrugged off reports that the White House had a plan in place to force him out and install CIA Director Mike Pompeo in his place.

"He kind of brushed this off today; he's heard these kinds of stories before," Nauert said. "He's just going on about his business."

"What I can tell you is that chief of staff Kelly called our department this morning and said that the rumors are not true, that the reports are not true," she added.

No matter HOW MANY TIMES it has bitten them in the AZZ in the past people are STILL easily stampeded by the media!  WHEN will it ever stop?

A great deal of that stampeding is the result of confirmation bias.  Many want to believe these reports, so they do!
