Lawyers can't legally demand other lawyers do squat in any binding way.

What they can do is file a lawsuit claiming defamation with severe damages and go to court and persuade a judge to issue an order to investigate if the evidence is valid or not. Pretty easy to demonstrate damages if the evidence is fake.

So until Moore's lawyer actually files a lawsuit demanding a review of the "evidence" and claimed damages as a result of the lies this is just smoke and mirrors.

Handwriting experts have already looked at it and are saying nothing is conclusive about the signature. For all we know, requesting the year book may not be that helpful.

There are a number of articles out there already that the handwriting has been analyzed, one was posted in this forum.

There are preliminary appearances, but to be properly analyzed, people have to have access to the original document.

As long as this woman retained Gloria, or someone else did on her behalf, she is Gloria's client.  Retention of an attorney and whether that attorney can practice in a particular jurisdiction are two separate matters. 

I don't know what the terms of the retention would be.  There might have been some upfront money paid and an agreement to represent signed.  Or Allred is taking this case on a contingent fee -- that is, if there is any money settled on her client, Allred gets a cut.  If there is no money by settlement, verdict or award, Allred doesn't get paid. 

As to practicing in Alabama -- Allred could retain local counsel to file papers and appear in court.  She could still be the main attorney and local counsel can be her lackeys. 

Honestly, I still don't think Allred wants to go to court.  Some attorneys call themselves litigators or trial attorneys, but they avoid trials at all costs, usually because they suck in a courtroom setting.  I think she's looking for an out-of-court payday.  She's an extortionist.

At this point by declaring her a 'client', any conversations they have had relating to the veracity of testimony or the writing in the yearbook are now priviliged under the penumbra of 'attorney client relations'. This keeps Allred from being subpoenaed to testify in the event the information is false, and protects her from liability if that comes out. This is why the gambit includes a Congressional hearing (not a judicial body of first jurisdiction). Take this to court in Alabama and Allred is on the back bench as an advisor.

Allred is a hired PR gun. She first tries people in the court of public opinion. She doesn't need a law license in Alabama to do that. She has shakedown down to an art form. A courtroom comes later if there's money to be made.

If Moore is innocent he'd sue now forcing this into a courtroom ASAP raising the stakes for Allred and her client.
