Saudi Arabia Arrests 11 Royals In Move To Consolidate Power For Crown Prince

Posted By Will Racke On 9:21 PM 11/04/2017 In | No Comments

Saudi Arabia announced Saturday the arrest of 11 princes and several other current and former government ministers, in what appears to be a decisive move by Saudi King Salman to consolidate power around his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

News of the arrests was first reported on Al Arabiya, the Saudi state satellite TV network whose broadcasts are approved by the government, reports the New York Times. Among those arrested was Prince al-Waleed bin Talal, who is one of the royal family’s most prominent members and a major investor in Apple and Twitter.

  • All deserve a trial if accused
Yep, this is a real big thing over there. Apparently it is shaking the government to its core. But it sounds like the Crown Prince being involved in doing this, will make their government better.  It sounds like it could be another thing this administration demanded just like measures countering the war on terrorism which they sure as hell needed to do since a lot of this Salafist/Wahhabist teaching comes from there and gets exported out of there. The Royals themselves may have little to do with such teachings themselves but their populace does.

Looks like they thought these 11 would be a Royal PITA.

May I ask a question?

Are these charges brought to 're-educate' the accused, ala Patty Hearst debriefing...or is it more an "OFF WITH THEIR HEAD!!"- type of matter?

Don't believe this for a minute.

Presumptions that he will "move the Saudis away from islamism" are... well, they're ridiculous.

The Saudis ARE NOT our "friends".
They never have been.
They never will be.

No islamic government can or should be trusted, anywhere.
