SALT LAKE CITY — One person is dead and campus is on lockdown after a shooting at Red Butte Canyon near the University of Utah campus. Police are searching for a suspect.

Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Brandon Shearer said officers weren't immediately releasing the victim's gender or other details.

Surely this is not a mass shooter on the loose but a situation to watch.

Sounds like the typical homicides occurring every day in the big cities.  Never been to Salt Lake City, so I don't know that this is an every day occurrence there or not.   But those of us familiar with daily murders don't really bat an eye.

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Police Department named 24-year-old Austin Boutain late Monday as a suspect in the University of Utah deadly shooting.

Man found dead who owned forest green colored pickup truck that suspect (Boutain) had. He lived in Golden Colorado. Suspect Boutain and wife are now in custody.
