Idaho mom deliberately drove off 50-foot cliff with 3 kids in car

An Idaho woman who drove her sport utility vehicle off a cliff and into a reservoir, killing herself and her three young children, acted deliberately, officials said Friday.

Noel Bankhead, a 40-year-old mother of three, drove a Land Rover holding her two daughters and son off a 50-foot cliff on June, 2, 2016. The vehicle sank in 40 feet of water in Lucky Peak Lake. The deaths were ruled a triple homicide-suicide by the Ada County Coroner’s Office, authorities said in a statement.

Authorities found the bodies of Bankhead, 13-year-old Anika Voermans, 11-year-old Logan Voermans and 8-year-old Gwyneth Voermans when the vehicle, whose roof was crushed, was recovered from the reservoir.

Selfish narcissism. They're HER kids, and she can play God with their lives as she pleases. I've seen it a zillion times, fortunately with less dire consequences.

Infamous mothers.

There was Susan Smith who strapped her two toddler sons in their car seats and pushed her car into a lake drowning them.

Another mother was Darlie Routier who stabbed her two young sons to death in her home while her husband and baby were asleep upstairs.  Then she staged the scene and blamed an intruder.  She now sits on Texas death row.

The tragic irony is... those babies last word was probably,  mommy.

The second true crime book I ever read was "Small sacrifices" by Ann Rule, about Diane Downs.

Gave me nightmares for a week.

From various published reports, it appears there's speculation that she hadn't gotten over her divorce. Maybe she just wanted to make the children's father suffer.

The second true crime book I ever read was "Small sacrifices" by Ann Rule, about Diane Downs.

Gave me nightmares for a week.

That book was also made into a movie with Farrah Fawcett playing Diane Downs.
She also starred in another serious movie about spouse abuse, "The Burning Bed."
After those serious acting roles, I never saw Farrah Fawcett [the70s/80s pin up girl]
quite the same again.
