‘50m Pakistanis suffering from mental disorders’
The Newspaper's Staff ReporterUpdated October 09, 2016

KARACHI: Around 50 million people are suffering from common mental disorders in Pakistan. The illness afflicts 15 to 35 million adults, which is about 10 to 20 per cent of the population.

“Approximately 20 million children or 10pc of the population in our country need attention from mental health practitioners,” said Dr Ayesha Mian, chairperson of the department of psychiatry at the Aga Khan University (AKU) at a dialogue held on mental health at the Karachi Press Club on Saturday.

Many marry first cousins. Though the malignant effects are rare, it's a big jump over the very rate problems for non-cousin marriages, and when you look at the overall occurrence, it adds up.

Start tacking on cousins marrying cousins thru the generations, and some nasty things pop up.

Considering the dominant 'religion' I'd hazard a guess the number is an understatement.

This is why girls don't do well in math.  Numbers are so confusing.  50 million people affected by a mental illness that effects 15 to 35 million people, which is 10 to 20 percent of a country with a population of 200 million.

.....A rough estimate shows that close to half of all Muslims in the world are inbred: In Pakistan, 70 percent of all marriages are between first cousins.....
