The new plans are for a smaller Muslim community center.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — New plans for a Muslim cultural center in the Financial District have been filed, years after the original proposal spurred backlash from opponents furious that the site was so close to the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Sharif El-Gamal, the developer behind the project, this time plans a smaller center than the 15-story building he had originally envisioned at 51 Park Place. El-Gamal, the founder of Soho Properties, is currently working on a luxury condominium tower at neighboring 45 Park Place.

I was at the Trade Center 10 days ago.  After looking at the area, it would be totally inappropriate for muslims to have anything near it.  If we bombed Mecca, would muslims EVER, EVER, EVER consent to a church being build next to it?  No earthly way.

Its tough to stop something like this so long after 9/11. The best response would be to buy the lots on either side of the site and open a kennel on one side and a gay bar on the other.

I don't care how small the the plans call for the victory mosque to be...the answer should still be a resounding NO!
