Bannon attacks George W. Bush
By Alicia Cohn - 10/21/17 07:23 AM EDT

In the latest in a string of attacks on so-called establishment Republicans, Stephen Bannon went after former President George W. Bush on Friday night, calling his legacy destructive and questioning his intelligence.

“There has not been a more destructive presidency than George Bush’s,” Bannon said, speaking at the convention banquet of the California Republican Party, which is a majority Democratic state.

Bush delivered a speech on democracy and security on Thursday that some also took as a nameless rebuke of President Trump.

Yes, Larry Elder also mentioned that little bit that Trump said on WMDs during the debates.

And then Elder seemed to brush it aside, not sweep it under the carpet.

Still, Bush was making a sort of open borders push or at least, a more lenient attitude with immigration, something I don't agree with.

From June 1944 to May 1945, total victory and surrender in Europe.

W. got us into 2 shooting wars on 2 fronts, both of which he had no plans or desire to win.

And our young people are still dying in them because we're unwilling to offend 'One of the World's Great Religions' /SSSSSSSSS

My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.

I'm afraid this is one of those rare moments I have to side with Race Bannon.  It's a shame it took Bush shooting off his mouth to make it happen.  I agree with @To-Whose-Benefit? about Bush's apparent lack of desire to win the conflicts that started on his watch.  I'm not necessarily going to blame him for their starting (the Taliban needed their asses kicked hard for 9/11, and Iraq had been on a slow boil since the early 90's), but he did give me a feel he did not ever intend to do what was necessary to bring them to a victorious end.

So now you understand the lay of the land - ladies and gentlemen.   Establishment Republicans and Democrats on one side, We the People on the other.

When Obama shoved Obamacare down our throats Bush turned the other way.

When  Obama apologized for America on foreign soil Bush was silent.

When Obama declared a war on police officers - Bush offered nary a peep.

When Obama waged war on religious liberty - Bush was AWOL.

And when Barack Obama vowed to fundamentally transform America -- George W. Bush -- stood down. Mission Accomplished.

It's starting to look (to me) like they are all snakes under the skin.  I don't trust ANY of them now.  We are in an era of massive distrust by the public... for very good reason.

That's a good article, you should post that as a thread.

There is also a good article defending George W. Bush on Red State today.

I won't post it as a thread because it depresses me to see so many uninformed people taking shots at our last Good President.

Trump was unnecessarily cruel to Bush during the primaries ... not just his opponent, Jeb, who I don't particularly like either, but he also made allegations against George W.

George W. had stayed out of politics and he was still staying out.  Sometimes when you are unnecessarily cruel to someone, it comes back to bite you.

George W. still has a lot of friends, allies and connections.

He did not make that speech to attack Trump but, as usual, Trump and his more passionate defenders take it that.

He may have awakened a sleeping giant.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the most obvious reason that Bush would never criticize anything Obama did.

It is the Liberal White guilt paralyzing fear of anything Black, even when they act like fools and clowns. Obama looks Black, even though his mother is White, and that is enough in the elite White circles to get an automatic pass on anything he does.

We don't really know how GW felt about what Obama was doing, because the political correct world that the Bush's live in would have prevented him from uttering a word against a defacto Black man, no matter what he does. In this world, only straight White Christians can be criticized, everybody else is a 'victim' of some kind and gets an automatic pass.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

Certainly true about the media and most politicians.

But I think GWB really wanted to move back to Dallas, watch the Texas Rangers, go to his ranch and get away from politics.

I just got a letter from him 8 years after I donated to his library.  He is definitely up to getting back in the fray.

Makes sense.  Bush was essentially Retired In Place since Pelosi won the Speakership of the House.

Not replying to anyone in particular but Bush WAS a good man as was his father.

Daddy Bush was a brave pilot, a good baseball player and a loving husband and father.  He never did anything to tarnish the Bush name.

GWB was a good and faithful husband and father and dog owner.

There was a story about GWB when his father was President.  George was working in the White House and a female aide kept coming on to him.  He finally instructed the SS not to let her in his office anymore because "I am a married man."  That's the way to avoid temption.

I agree and I will not partake in bashing GWB I judge his presidency on how he handled 9/11 and not his policies, some that I disagreed with.

Do you even realize how ridiculous it is for you, of all people, to call anyone a homer?

GWB could have hurt Trump during the campaign.  He didn't.  It's call class, perhaps a new concept for you?

Dubya was still considered The Worst Man in America during the campaign.  The only way he could have hurt Trump would have been if he had endorsed Trump.

Ditto.

My policy is pretty much anything Bannon says, I ignore. I find him vile.
