Hurricane Ophelia: 'Take IMMEDIATE action' You have 2 hours! Unprecedented warning issued
HURRICANE Ophelia is TWO HOURS away from smashing the UK in what is now feared to be the worst storm for 60 years sparking warnings to take “immediate action”.

More than 1,000 Army troops are on standby with 100mph gales set to lash swathes of the country through the next 48 hours.

Government forecasters have issued a “danger to life” alert ramping up severe weather warnings from yellow to the more severe amber.

More than 50,000 homes in Cork are now without power as Hurricane Ophelia rampages through.

Latest in Ireland, gusts of 124km/h have been recorded at Cork Airport, while 6.5km off the south-west coast at Fastnet Rock recorded winds of a whopping 176km/h.

Locals spoke of the sky darkening with every part of Ireland feeling Ophelia over the next three hours.

The Met Office has in the past hour extended this alert from Ireland into a wider part of western and northern Britain while bringing the danger time forward to midday.

Looks like the entirety of Ireland is in the path of the storm, just as Puerto Rico was.

For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

Ban Irish newspapers before they kill any more!

From what I read in that paper, the Irish may be their own worst enemies.  One fellow died from a chainsaw accident.

Odd, that.   Doesn't seem to be a disaster going on to me.  But you know how the Irish (half of my ancestors) are.  They'll go pub-hopping even in the most dire of scenarios....lol.

It's easy standing up to 100MPH winds.  What's hard is standing up to a Yield sign being blown by 100MPH winds.  (Ron White said something like that once.)

Hurricane Ophelia: Three dead and 360,000 without power as monster storm hits
Irish Times, Oct 16, 2017

Over 360,000 properties are without power and three people have died as Hurricane Ophelia sweeps in over Ireland with damaging gusts and heavy rainfall.

Members of the public have been advised to stay inside and not to make unnecessary journeys as the worst storm the country has seen in more than 50 years passes over. Public transport services have been cancelled countrywide and there have been a series of road closures.

There will be no Luas service on the Red or Green lines tomorrow morning due to damage at a technical room at the Red Cow depot. All Dublin Bus, Irish Rail a nd Bus Eireann services have been suspended for the rest of the day until Tuesday morning.

Well, to be fair, considering the prevailing winds and where big storms normally come from, most of the pub doors face directly into this gale... Havoc.

That's on the opposite side of the island.  It mainly hit in the low-population west, and is pretty much over.  Current winds about 20-25 mph.

Why isn't Trump helping them?

Jason?

Seriously, my prayers to the Emerald Isle.  Home to Joyce, Guinness, and Father Ted. And. Other marvelous things too....

And yes, Bloomsday in Dublin is number one on my bucket list
