Trump says 'open to negotiations' with North Korea
By Chyung Eun-ju, Park Si-soo

U.S. President Donald Trump says he is open to negotiations with North Korea over its nuclear program.

"We're going to see what happens with North Korea," he told reporters at the White House on Friday (local time). "That's all I can say. We're totally prepared for numerous things.

"If something can happen where we negotiate, I'm always open to that.

We should negotiate how Fatboy wants to die. We could be cordial towards him...give him a choice of death by drone strike or five ton bomb. Yes, that would be the gentlemanly thing to do.

Most people don't insult someone they intend to negotiate with in the future.

The President is not looking to negotiate with North Korea.

But imagine the uproar, right here in RoosCannon City, if the President said he refuses to negotiate.

He's fending off detractors in the press.

No. That’s exactly what you do. Read the book. You don’t have to sully yourself reading The Art of The Deal, you can check out any text book on business or general negotiating techniques.

"Open to" is political speech for "no".  I'm surprised you don't appreciate the President speaking as a politician---since you have so vocally longed for this and ridiculed his directness in the past.   Oh well, you're a tough egg to please.

Actually, the President is knocking them off their game.   888blackhat

Which one of you is correct?  I know it's so difficult picking a direction since you can never rely on what POTUS tells you.

I know.  If only it hadn't been preceded by the "rocket man" nonsense.

You're not nearly as clever as you hope.

Carry on ... I'm done with this.

Well, in this case you can't *both* be wrong.  It's either one or the other; negotiate or not negotiate.

I read a report by Nicholas Kristof, New York Times columnist, visiting North Korea. He said that hardliners are gaining in Korea in part because the hardliners in the US (Trump) have gained power, and that he is fearful that this is destabilizing and dangerous.

Really? What was so great about 25 years of prior administration soft-liners? What has Bill Clinton or Barack Obama’s soft line approach to North Korean dictators gotten us? Except a nuclear armed and missiled up North Korea?

Never forget it was the soft liners, Clinton and Obama, who brought the world to this dangerous point, not Donald Trump.

I love the way RIV throws that last rotten egg and then bails out! not as witty as you hope still beats the heck out of not as witty as RIV thinks she is. :silly:

I really wasn't trying to be clever or witty.  I think I was pretty consistent through the whole exchange; the "rocket man"/insults are inconsistent with the "open to" comments.  I was actually agreeing with @Right_in_Virginia but she didn't like the way I was saying it I guess.

The cutest part to me was how the two above wouldn't say the other was wrong.  That's sweet.  ^-^
