Partisan gaps widen even further in Trump's first year as Democrats move left

The partisan gap that already divided Americans into increasingly estranged camps has widened even further in President Donald Trump's first year in office, largely because Democrats have moved to the left on a wide range of issues, a new large-scale, nonpartisan poll has found.

On issues as varied as government aid to the poor, immigration and the role of diplomacy versus military force, Americans who identify themselves as Democrats or independents who generally side with the Democrats have shifted to more liberal positions in the last several years. That shift has become even more pronounced in the last year, according to the new survey by the Pew Research Center.

Agreed.  This is why I believe that the GOP is missing the opportunity that several have admitted that they have.  They need to follow through on their promises; repeal of Bammycare, building a wall, creating sustainable jobs and the economy.  Perhaps just as important to growing the party is to spread the message in word and action that conservatism works and that liberalism has failed and has no future.

The problem is that every time the Dems jog left, the GOP follows. Avoiding a clear cut conservative alternative and going for a Liberal Lite candidate has consistently left Conservatives politically homeless. Worse yet is the contemptuous attitude of the 'moderates' who have disenfranchised more Conservatives while harboring the attitude that Conservatives have n place else to go, even as the GOP hastens its slide to the Left.
With the failure to repeal Obamacare, an out-of-touch approach to tax reform, failure to simply uphold immigration law in a meaningful way (secure our borders), and failure to prosecute the egregious violations of Constitution and Law of the previous administration, the GOP has proven itself to be part and parcel of the very swamp it was sent to drain.

Let the democrat/communists move farther, farther, ever-further to the left.

Partisanship is what we want.
It draws lines, delineates borders, defines the issues.

And it seems that on most of those issues, Mr. Trump is moving in the right direction.
