Puerto Rico’s Hurricane Exodus Becoming a Political Party Courtship

Posted at 11:00 am on October 3, 2017 by Brad Slager

The post-hurricane crisis in Puerto Rico is an ongoing concern. While the press is diligently giving one contrarian mayor all of the airtime the rest of the island’s leaders, and hordes of federal agency workers, are working at fixing an untenable situation.

Relief efforts have been hampered by an infrastructure that has been rendered, an electrical grid being completely taken offline, and ports being overstuffed with relief supplies that cannot be delivered either due to unopened roads or recalcitrant truckers. The disaster left in the wake of Maria has made all the worse due to a nation that has been handicapped by an economic quagmire, and the conditions creating such.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Don't know if it's true or not, but I read yesterday that the truckers are striking and refusing to deliver the supplies that are stacking up at the docks.
Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.

I thought that was cleared up last week, and it was a lot more complicated than just a strike. Trucks are destroyed, roads are impassible, and truckers were ordered to work with no way to get to work, many of whom lost everything, and having to leave families they are trying to help too.  The 'strike' was more like a big 'wtf' from the truckers.

Yes, the situation is chaotic over there but for whatever reasons the needed supplies are piling up and not being delivered.

What they needed, and what finally started happening late Friday and Saturday, was the National Guard and military to help with logistics. Your average truck driver can't really deal with washed out bridges and debris. That's something the National Guard is trained for.
