BREAKING: California Moves Presidential Primary Elections to March
« on: September 28, 2017, 01:42:08 am »
Well, it’s no Calexit, but this ought to be interesting.

The Lost Angeles Times reports that California Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation officially moving the state’s presidential primary elections from June up to March, which means California’s next presidential primary election will take place on March 3, 2020.

Democrats who embraced the push for an early primary said they were motivated in part by the election of President Trump, whose successful bid for the Republican Party nomination was well on its way to reality by the time California voters cast ballots on June 7, 2016.

“We have a greater responsibility and a greater role to promote a different sort of agenda at the national level,” said state Sen. Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens), the author of the bill. “We need to have a greater influence at the national level.”

The new law also moves California’s congressional and legislative primaries, a change which some suggested could make it difficult for challengers to raise money and put together a campaign plan months earlier than in the past.

Insofar as the Republican race is concerned, California doesn't matter much anymore.

Who can take seriously any vote that comes out of there, as being "representative" of what the rest of America thinks or wants?

This may backfire on liberals. Time and time again, they make the mistake of presuming too much early on, this would put them in a situation where they assume who the candidate is early in the primary and that candidate gets lazy as the rest of the primaries goes on, abandoning other states.

California, a one party state, a wholly owned franchise of the Democrat party, thinks they should be able to select the republican nominee.

I fully understand the political situation of the nation. I know the California of yesterday is gone.

All that I have done is to remind people that California cast the 3rd largest popular vote total of the states.

That's their plan.  And it just might work.
