Trump: Venezuela in crisis because 'socialism has been faithfully implemented

President Trump slammed Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and the very political system his country is based on for being a failure to the people of Venezuela.

"The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented but that socialism has been faithfully implemented," he said in front of the United Nations General Assembly, which was greeted with a long pause and then some applause.

"From the Soviet Union to Cuba, Venezuela — wherever through socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish, devastation, and failure. Those who preach the tenets of these discredited ideologies only contribute to the continued suffering of the people who live under these cruel systems. America stands with every person living under a brutal regime."

President Donald Trump surprised the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday when he remarked that the collapsing situation in Venezuela was not due to the poor implementation of socialism, but rather its successful implementation.

"The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented," he said.

Trump paused, and there was audible muttering in the chamber before some tepid applause broke out.

"From the Soviet Union to Cuba to Venezuela, wherever true socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish and devastation and failure," he said.

Trump said, as a responsible neighbor and friend, the U.S. had a goal for the Venezuelans to recover their freedom and "restore their democracy."

I still remember a lady I worked with.  She had gotten a high paying consulting job in Caracas, Venezuela.   She emailed me one day saying there were riots in the streets and they were going door to door looking for Americans and shooting them in the street.

Some friends of hers helped her hide and she managed to get home shortly after.   Getting an email from a sweet older lady telling me they were shooting people in the streets right outside her window is something I'll never forget.

I like how he led them into an uncomfortable position when he said, (paraphrased): "As the Leader of the USA, my PRIMARY job is to look out for America, 1st!

Just as Presidents' and representatives' primary concern is for the welfare of THEIR own citizens and country.

We'll always be faithful and there for our allies, but this globalist Socialism concept don't play here.

Our contribution to the UN....as unfairly proportioned as it is...would be worth it, if you were doing your job according to your charter.

Your budgets have doubled, the workforce has tripled.

...and so have the terrorist attacks and fatalities.
