I will repeat the statement that got me booted from TOS.  Donald Trump was the GOP Establishment candidate.

From his eagerness to help Mitch McConnell stave off a primary challenge from a TEA Party Conservative in 2014, to his vocal defense of the GOP Establishment against the Colorado Conservative grass roots in March 2016, to his appointment of the GOP Chairman himself as his White House Chief of Staff, Donald Trump has done everything the GOP Establishment has asked.

Yet his sycophants continue to embrace the lie that he will drain the swamp while at the same time vilifying the only Conservative that has called Mitch McConnell a liar to his face.

I accept Trump for who he is.  I don't expect him to understand the nuances of government.  I have no delusions of him towing the Conservative line.  He will receive applause from me when he does something Conservative, and he will receive criticism when he does something anti-Conservative - not because he is violating some false façade that I have put up, but because I value truth.

Contrast that with the Trump kool-aid drinkers who still cannot come to terms with the fact that Ted Cruz did not lie or that Trump has had the backing of the GOP Establishment for quite some time.  I will embrace truth any day of the week.  Yet the Trump sycophants continue to embrace the big lie.
Here I had thought he was a stalking horse for Hillary, but the obvious, that Cruz was the real 'outsider' threat to the GOPe, and Trump an 'insider' by virtue of the smoky back room or the willingness to 'cut deals' if nothing else, makes perfect sense. Well said.

I agree with all that except the part I put in bold. He very much understands it and has been playing it his entire career. He is not some 'outsider' like some like to paint him. He has a long, deep career in the 'donor class' or 'influencer class' playing that game to his benefit.

Perfect example of this. He started a PAC in New York to oppose gambling and try to stop the lottery and casinos from entering the state. Did he do this because he was some upstanding moral character? Nope, he did it to block competition to his New Jersey gambling racket.

Trump's PAC positioned itself to New Yorkers as taking the moral high road, doing it for the children, and all that claptrap to sell it, but his real intentions were just the opposite. He manipulated an entire State and its legislation just for the sake of reduce some competition to his own business by a bit.

So yes, he does understand the nuances of government. Ignorance is no excuse for him.

Running back to the arms of the Democrats isn't about his failing to understand anything. He is either reverting to his normal state of being, or he now sees that side as more advantageous to him and thinks he has used up his MAGA fuel. (I suspect both).

And is doing so especially this week after 'da deal' with the rats.

I just don't understand this blind hatred for talk show hosts that do more good for our side than anyone ELSE in the media.  It boggles the mind.

I do not have 'blind hatred' for the talk radio blowhards anymore than I have blind devotion to a politician or "blind hatred" for TV ringmasters like Jerry Springer.

I simply do not have any regard for what they have to say anymore.  I turned them all off.

I'll read the news myself and come to my own conclusions rather than have them run through the filters of whatever a talking head wants to tell me everything means.

And I'm healthier for it.

20 plus years of daily listening to the same regurgitated stuff over and over while absolutely nothing changes or foundational principles advanced despite the 'ratings' of these talking heads.  They refused to walk the walk when it came to electing Trump.  Once again, they all advocated we vote for the lesser evil because the 'other guy' was 'more dangerous' and we had to stop them from taking office.

Sorry, but voting for a lifelong NY liberal Democrat is not something a true Conservative does - I do not care what excuse they insist upon.  My problem came up when they began berating those of us who listened that we had to do the same.  Limbaugh was the worst when he told that woman she could not pull the lever if Trump was the nominee and he said that she was voting for Hillary.

Nope.  A true Conservative governed by the principles they supposedly preach would never tell someone such a thing.

I'm tired of the excuses to vote party and the lesser evil and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that I should subject myself to filling my mind up with their opinions rather than my own.

I'm tired of it too, INVAR.... but I still like to know what the hell is going on.  And I can't and don't trust ANY of the lamestream media (including Fox now) to inform me of that.  I still DO trust Rush & Levin (and Rick Roberts).  And until or unless they veer left suddenly ..... I'm still partial to the idea that Trump was indeed Hillary's stalking horse.

I still think he was supposed to go down in the 10th round and let Hildabeast cruise to her crown - but 'winning' became more important to him rather than doing what he said he would do.

Because he did single-handedly destroy every single true Conservative threat to her, and that meeting with Bill Clinton the day before he announced his candidacy had me real suspicious.

The fact the entire Democrat Party and Hillary were 'shellshocked' beyond bewilderment that Trump "won" and the "fix" didn't take - still has me thinking there is some truth to that idea of Trump being the stalking horse.

Now he simply needed to be reigned in and bridled to the Oligarchy's agenda - which he is now clearly doing.

Some have opined Trump's purpose is to destroy the Republican party in total - and that too is possible.

He has already helped the oligarchy destroy what was left of Conservatism within the party.

You'd be better off reading two articles on every news event.  One from the right and one from the left.  For both omit key facts on news events.

Only with both will you get all the facts and all the ramifications that can occur from them.

And you'll easily spot the cr@p spewed, too.

Oh, I also read articles posted on several different active forums.  I get a cross-section of opinions about the daily news from forums, the news from the articles, and the take on what has transpired from my three talk radio guys.  It works for me..... so far.   ^-^

It's already happening.

How many times have you seen posts in comment sections of conservative newsites which, during the elections, said that conservatism couldn't win... that we HAD to have Trump?

And who, now, said that Trump's cave to Democrats is right and proper... and that conservatives are the problem?

If that ain't destroying conservatism, then I'm a monkey's uncle.

Yes.... but.... her adamant (rabid, even) support of the very same ones she later laments having ever supported...

has made her a non-credible pundit.  And that's the nice version of what I'm thinking about her now.   ^-^

Sorry, but..... she has blown it, finally.  She would have been better off in the long run....keeping her trap shut and not sold quite so many books, IMO.  But noooo....

Can't stand Ann Coulter, but at least she "Manned" up to being duped.  Unlike some here at TBR, and a multitude of fools at the place that used to be a conservative site called Free Republic.

It kinda figures, really.   The Trump fanatics were, after all, "all in" when Trump told them to knock the crap outta them (their opponents) at the rallies.  They are one and the same, ideologically.   The thinking is....Violence = the end justifies the means.

You know.  Kinda like the radical left also thinks.    :pondering:

And we all just found out who has the short straw.

You're suggesting there might be some straw envy going on?

I'm tired of it too, INVAR.... but I still like to know what the hell is going on.  And I can't and don't trust ANY of the lamestream media (including Fox now) to inform me of that.  I still DO trust Rush & Levin (and Rick Roberts).  And until or unless they veer left suddenly ..... I will continue to trust them to bring me the truth re: what's really happening in this nation.

@XenaLee

Just speaking for myself, the only talker I listen to is Dana Loesch.  I lost respect for Limbaugh during the primaries, and recently for Levin when he said that Trump's presidency will be a success if all he does is annoy the media.  I like Loesch's show because it's a combination of news, politics, and fun stuff like Top 5 Ranked---snack cakes, cookies, songs, apps, pet peeves, etc.

I get most of my news from Twitter, though...great sources like Ben Shapiro, Steve Deace, Reagan Battalion, Redstate, etc.
