LOL  It's the texture I don't like, although there is something wrong about bread that is sweet that isn't a pastry.

LOL! S'alright. I love ya anyway... But that must be northern cornbread... Mine don't have sugar in it... I guess it is sweet, but just the corn.

Oh for God's sake @txradioguy   If I were a victim, I'd have left long ago.

But I'm here and lovin' every single damn minute I get to interact with you.

You are a delightful distraction.   And, I thank you.   ^-^

Back to the topic at hand (because I really don't want to read 15 pages of squabbling)-

Does no one find it disturbing that the 'new normal' is to assume that Democrats can handle crisis spending and management better and thus, they are the ones we must deal with for important issues?

The Republicans had a spending plan that included hurricane relief that did not give a blank check for all future spending (removing debt cap).

But here we are, now just blindly assuming the answer to any problem is government getting involved on a massive scale and spending massive amounts and handing the keys to the Democrats who are the kings at over-spending and wasting 90% of what goes in.

Somehow people's hatred of Paul Ryan is resulting in handing Nancy Pelosi the keys and assuming she is a better driver.

It's another instance of where the Democrats have been allowed to control the narrative with nary a word in opposition from anyone in the GOP.

Hush your mouth!  Grand daddy and family were from Kingsland, GA.  I don't really know how he made it, since I never liked it. I can picture the yellow bag of cornmeal, but don't know what the rest in it was.  I think it was just that little bit of sweetness that corn naturally has.

And that's why people don't post and end up leaving.  This thread has become a perfect example

It's a big internet out there.  At least we don't get banned for posting an opinion that is not ass kissing Trump.

Threads are like evening dinner parties, they meander and flow in and out and change focus and the vast majority here actually LIKE the thread drift into nuts and pies - so deal with it... or not.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

@roamer_1

Hush puppies are okay.  At least I like them, which is more than I can say for grits and sweet tea.

And yes, I am born and raised Southern.  I just have a heretical streak.

@CatherineofAragon

I luuuv me some hush puppies. A little bit of ranch... aw that's guuuud.
Sweet tea by the bucket...
And cheesy grits

They are prerequisite wrt my next marriage.
Sorry darlin, I guess it just wasn't meant to be.  :shrug:

Listen here you lintlicker, grand daddy made his cornbread in a cast iron skillet.  It most certainly was round.

PS  I hate cornbread, so I don't care.  :laugh:

@RoosGirl

I like my cornbread non-sweet.  Jiffy mix might as well be yellow cake.
Add salt!

Has anyone actually seen the Republican plan?   There's a lot of disinformation out there about it....is the reason I asked.   Have you seen it?  Got link?

LOL! Then I will make a hasty retreat!

My Grandma in KS did somewhat with molasses in cornbread - man was it good. I wish I could get that back, but mamma don't remember.

I didn't see anyone suggest such a thing.  In fact, she was asked a couple of times what type of pie she likes.  ^-^

I'm a...um.... rebel?

With?  Or without?  (a cause)

lolol

I'm not a fanatical fan of cornbread, but mostly it's nostalgic on my part.  My mom made hush puppies and hot water cornbread that I would give almost anything to have again.  Took all that for granted at the time....[sigh].

All you have to do is file a post report when you feel insulted..I guarantee you several MODs will look at it. What we don't like is when someone else reports it...we feel if it doesn't bother the person it was intended for it doesn't bother us.

Thanks for the clarification. As you know I don't often hit the button, 2–3x during the last primary only. But frankly I'd rather not be a squeaky wheel. If someone insults me (and they have) personally ignoring them (not using the ignore feature) is my preferred course of action. But, I can see where reporting the post could be more advantageous. I'll give that some consideration.

This part made me laugh: "Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and budget director Mick Mulvaney were booed when they came to Capitol Hill to plead with Republicans to support the deal."

It's so nice to hear from you!  I hope you reconsider your decision...maybe just a little?

Yeah that's just what we need here, more people calling Trump supporters cultists. Brilliant idea for setting the right mood for a lively back and forth. Not.

Yes, you can see the proposed budget as it evolves, proposed amendments, reports, etc all on the House website.
