And you might want to take a remedial grammar course, RIV.   It's been so long (apparently).... you've forgotten how to communicate correctly.

Good for you @XenaLee .... you can teach English!

Picture it ... you'll be off the couch and contributing something to this world beyond snark.

Good luck.  I'll be praying for you!!!

I think we do pretty well at discussing serious topics.

The title throws me, though.
An inanimate object is anthropomorphized to justify laud handing the Democrats an unnecessary and clear victory in a textbook case of 'how not to negotiate'.

As I have stated (not sure if it was on this thread), that the 'great communicator' could have tweeted something to the effect of "Congress wants to hold up hurricane relief by stacking stuff on the bill. Contact them and give 'em hell for it. Tell them to pass a clean bill. " and been the voice of the People, pushing for just hurricane aid, without the usual Beltway Games, and holding the collective feet of the COngress to the fire.
It's a missed opportunity, not only to shame the Congress into action, but to unite the public behind him, and now the Dems know they can mess with any essential legislation and get their way, and like as not Trump will come hat in hand to them.

Some deal. Some brilliance.

Agreed.  I don't think this was the stunning move many think it is, but it's hard to say because the public has become so jaded about the process.  I don't have faith if, he asked, people would ring their Congressman's phone off the hook, because the media has them hating him so much.

Yeah, yeah...so what kind of pie do you like?

Tangents like those on this thread tend to increase camaraderie amongst the members, and create a warm, welcoming culture.  I'm baffled as to why anyone posting here would be opposed to that.

Is that pee can pie or peh kahn pie?

I have it on pretty good authority in Texas it's peh-KHAN pie.  Straight from @Sanguine, and I consider her authority on TX dialog absolute.

Especially on threads that have broken the 250 Post barrier.

Because people have a short attention spans around here and prefer swapping recipes to discussing thread topics.

@Cyber Liberty

And some people won't discuss the topic because they have some weird hang-up with thinking other members are not serious enough.

It's more than the snark, RIV, it's the personal insults that I find most trying.

In the past several months I've watched as smart, articulate posters come here, be greeted and then find themselves on the receiving end of these personal insults. Then, one by one, I notice their absence. Pity.

I like just about any pie. I'm not so hot on Key Lime, but I like banana cream pie, chocolate pie, cherry, juneberry, chokecherry, plum, peach, apple, strawberry-rhubarb, sour cream and raisin, lemon meringue, Boston Cream Pie (although that is sorta cake, too), blackberry, raspberry, chicken pot (hee hee), Shepherd's, mincemeat, pumpkin, peecan, and most any I might have left out.
Throw barbecue in a pie crust, and I'm happy.

BBQ pie.  I'm going to have to think about that one.  Could be good.  Maybe use a cornmeal crust?

Oh.... the irony!

He comes back with the exact same shtick, nothing different in his routine.  Still refuses to see or acknowledge his own side's responsibility in anything here.  That is the real pity.

Never had rhubarb in anything, much less pie.  Don't care for mincemeat in any form.  But I make a dynamite French Silk Pie (chocolate with whipped cream) at Christmas time.  It's almost sinful.

That looks more like a Shepard's Pie, with Beans subbed for mashed potatoes.

The rhubarb adds significant tartness. The French Silk Pie sounds great!

Corned beef comes in a can? Did you mean corned beef and hash?

You can get hash made with roast beef as well as with corned beef. It's good.

@RoosGirl has a pretty good point, @aligncare.  You quoted a post from @Right_in_Virginia that had a personal attack on RG, then you complained about snark and personal attacks in your follow-up.  That's pretty ironical, don't you think?
