Comey drafted announcement closing Hillary Clinton probe before key witnesses interviewed: Senators

Two Republican senators say they’ve reviewed evidence that indicates former FBI Director James Comey began drafting a statement to announce the closure of the bureau’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server before key witnesses, including Mrs. Clinton, were interviewed.


Sen. Chuck Grassley and Sen. Lindsey Graham wrote to FBI Director Chris Wray asking for information related to Mr. Comey’s announcement, saying they’ve reviewed partially redacted interview transcripts that indicate Mr. Comey was drafting a statement on the closure of the case months before the July 5, 2016 announcement.


The interview transcripts are from an investigation the Office of Special Counsel was conducting that looked into whether Mr. Comey’s actions were a violation of the Hatch Act, which prohibits government employees from using their positions to influence an election. The investigation was closed after President Trump fired Mr. Comey in May.

Not surprised. I figured Comey was a swamp creature after his contradictory address laying out solid ground for a case against Hillary then summarily dropping it. What?

Since he's dropped any reference to prosecuting Clinton when he's in a position to do so, I'd say yes he is.

It seems SOP for FBI and Congressional Investigations to row madly with one oar, and peter out after spending a bunch of money and letting the news cycle move on to something else, while giving the appearance of "doing something'. Conspicuously going through the motions and then.... nothing.  Clinton must have a lot of dirt on some highly placed people on both sides of the aisle if this was a foregone conclusion, which the preparation of such documents months in advance would certainly indicate.

My bet is that that was just the start, and just what she got caught with. I'd wager there has been some serious data mining, and that the Wassermann-Shultz 'IT team' wasn't there just to snoop Democrat computers. I'd wager they have all the dirt to be found on the Congress, any major Judge, and party heads on both sides, just for starters. I don't think Roberts' jurisprudential contortions to stuff the ADA up America's collective distal alimentary canal were any accident or epiphany, except one induced by serious leverage.

Serous standalone elements of that 'theory' have been substantiated. The rest used to be referred to as "connecting the dots".

Of course. The whole dang show in DC runs on dirt. Once they figgered out how everybody has dirt on everybody, then everyone gets off, and anything goes.
