President Donald Trump vowed to build the wall on the Mexican border even if he has to shut down the government to secure funding for it, CNBC reported.

He made the vow during a rally in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday.

"If we have to close down our government, we're building that wall," Trump said. Congress must agree to an overall funding bill that Trump signs into law by Sept. 30 or the government will shut down, according to CNBC. But Democratic lawmakers have vowed to oppose any deal that includes money for the wall.

If Congress does push through a funding package without money for the wall, Trump could decide against signing the measure, forcing a shutdown.

Designs for the border wall were accepted by the Department of Homeland Security earlier this year, The Hill noted.

Ok and please correct me if I am wrong, but didn't a short term budget pass that allocated money to repair the existing wall with verbiage in the bill to NOT allocate $$ for a future wall?  So ... wouldn't Trump have signed that budget bill?  Now the article is stating that he's threatening a government shutdown unless he gets funding for the wall?  I don't think so.  The only thing that may come out of all this is being able to place the blame on the DEMS for no wall.

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.
