Along will come a certain poster, tell us that the sampling on this one is all wrong.  We need to look at the Zogby poll that sampled correctly which shows a much higher approval rate. I find no evidence that is the case in the Zogby poll; we'll just have to take their word for it.

Nixon fell to 24 percent by the end.  Carter dipped just below 30 for some of his time.

It depends.  On the national level, they were off by about 1 point in 2004, zero in 2008, three points in 2012, and 1 point in 2016.  Trial heats would be interesting - I haven't seen too many of those yet.
