Victory for Immigration Activists as Sanctuary City Bill Moves to City Council

On Wednesday, August 2, members of a City Council committee overwhelmingly approved legislation that would prevent local authorities from cooperating with some of Immigration and Customs Enforcement's efforts to identify and/or deport undocumented residents in Denver. In a public hearing packed with activists, the Safety, Housing, Education and Homelessness Committee voted six to one to approve the bill, which will head to the full city council later this month.
