President Trump and his campaign organization are going to war against the Russia investigations, said an official involved in the effort, launching a multipronged public relations offensive to spread distrust of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.

Capitol Hill Republicans and Washington legal professionals say Mr. Trump should keep out of the investigation and focus on governing because his protestations keep the story in the media spotlight and make him look defensive.

But the president is determined to confront head on the allegations of Trump campaign collusion with Russia and expose the investigation to be a political hit job. Marshaling opposition from Mr. Trump’s base, the thinking goes, will make it more difficult for Mr. Mueller’s investigation to bring down the Trump presidency.

IMHO, the writing is on the wall ... Sessions, Rosenstein and Mueller; aren't going to bode well for Trump.  President Trump needs to go with his original impulse and replace Sessions.  Put Sessions as DHS and appoint a new AG.  Let the new AG then fire Rosenstein and Mueller.    He needs to be more careful not to select creatures from the swamp.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

“This is a war,” said Bruce Levell, a member of the Trump re-election campaign’s advisory board. “Why would we stop talking to the American people? That is the best thing you can do: keep talking to your base. And guess what? The base is growing.”

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

As best as I can tell the Mueller team is investigating why Hillary Clinton lost the election.  All the so called experts said she couldn't lose despite being a horrible candidate and living on the wrong side of the law her entire adult life.

But the experts couldn't have been wrong so a special investigation was warranted.  Among her every changing list of reasons for losing, such as stupid voters and a corrupt DNC, the Russian boogeyman was tossed out early as one of the excuses by Clinton herself.  Evidently the Special Counsel decided to pass on investigating stupid voters and the DNC.

Once Mueller selected the Russians from the grab bag of excuses for Clinton's election loss there were choices to be made by the investigators.  The doctoring of electronic vote counters was ruled out since pretty much everybody else but the Russians perform that neat little trick every single election.  And examining voter roles is the third rail of politics since it involves all 50 states and most of them are as dirty as a pig in slop and the states would fight tooth and nail to protect their ace in the hole.  The investigators needed something to grab onto that was less obvious, less tangible, and could not be corroborated by cold hard data.

So they settled on the Manchurian Candidate angle.  Not only would the press eat it up by the bucketful but the boogeyman in the sky angle required little more than innuendo and American's natural distrust of the Vast Red Wing Conspiracy.  Grabbing at ghosts beats the hell out of sweeping the dust from under the rug of the American political system.

Meanwhile no wall...no tax reform...no Obamacare repeal...no permanent Sec Army....no DHS secretary nominee to replace Gen Kelly and while Trump was preoccupied with twitter, crashing weddings at one of his clubs and trashing Congress...they blocked any attempt for him to recess appoint some of the positions he needs filled in his Cabinet.

This is much closer to how Bill Clinton went after Ken Starr. At that, Starr's investigation didn't end up where it started either. It was originally about Whitewater. There seem to be a lot of parallels.

At that, Friday I saw a prominent Conservative, Trump fan even say that Trump Republicans are 1995 Democrats (he was saying this as a positive thing).

Funny, we are all in favor of Ken Starr doing this. The more Trump opens his mouth, the more Mueller will go after him.
