Ways That ‘Star Trek’ Changed the World
« on: August 05, 2017, 11:29:50 pm »

The idea that Star Trek has changed the world might sound as farfetched as some of the USS Enterprise’s spacefaring missions, but the truth is that the science fiction series has directly or indirectly impacted both our present and future. It seems like an absurd statement — when creator Gene Roddenberry was first kicking around the idea in 1964, he probably never imagined that Star Trek would still be around in 2017 with reboots in the pipeline. But it’s influence in the realm of science, technology, and social progress is something that certainly supports the claim of how important entertainment can be. Here are seven ways that Star Trek changed the world.

I liked the re-boot but nothing takes away from the original.

Ditto...

But JJ Abrams did a really good job and I have to hand it to him. I am waiting for a "Mad Max" re-boot.

Personally I thought that Star Trek Beyond was the best of the reboot movies.  I agree he did a good job and I'm looking forward to the new Star Trek show.

It made it so that nobody wanted to wear a red shirt

Me too. I am waiting for the new show. I have to congratulate Netxflix and Hulu to have all the series and the movies featured in their programming. If you want to see all the movies and the series you have to go to Hulu. Remember, that is a paid service. Netflix only has all the television series as part of their programming.

Those are the two best episodes. "The City on the Edge of Forever" and "All of our Yesterdays". Harlan Ellison wrote the "City on The Edge of Forever" starring Joan Collins(Edith Keeler). Time Travel always works with Star Trek episodes.

I ate meat. And I liked it!

"All of our Yesterdays" was a very good episode and  Mariette Hartley was very attractive.

I was always partial to the Gary Seven; Assignment Earth episode.   Thought it would have made a nice spin-off series had it ever materialized.
