Texas will not release voters' confidential information to the Trump administration, joining at least 23 other states that have refused to comply with all or part of a federal request aimed at pinpointing alleged voter fraud.

This week, the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity sent a letter to all 50 states asking for detailed voter registration information, according to The Hill. The commission requested everything from names and addresses to conviction histories, military service records and partial Social Security numbers.....

Translated, it isn't the Federal Government's business to have all the data they are demanding. The eligibility of an individual for voting is set out in the Constitution and also regulated at state level. The Constitution states that voting rights cannot be denied on grounds of race or color, sex or age for citizens eighteen years or older. Beyond these basic qualifications, it is the responsibility of state legislatures to regulate voter eligibility.

Another interesting point. It seems the administration is trying to use Bill Clinton's National Voter Registration Act of 1993 as justification (and that even didn't go this far). Conservatives railed against it then.

I don't trust the federal government to have that info.  Not now, not ever.  But if they really want it that bad, they could always just ask the Russians for it.   ^-^  (or hell, the Chinese probably, too)
