The damage when minimum wage is too high

None other than the Washington Post has published an article showing the damage that an excessive minimum wage has done to low wage earners in Seattle, people the higher wage was supposed to help. It is obvious that this would happen and it is a shame so many people are surprised that when you raise wages too high you take away hours and jobs.

Progressives believe labor is a right. IOWs, they believe you have the right to a job that pays well. So they artificially increase the cost of labor. Well, like anything else when the price gets high, you end up with less purchasers. An employer is purchasing, in a sense, your labor.

Progressives also believe their good intentions will triumph over the law of economics

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.
