State Department probes Clinton handling of government emails, could pull her security clearance

By Malia Zimmerman Published June 20, 2017 Fox News

The State Department has opened a formal inquiry into whether former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her aides mishandled classified information while she was the nation’s top diplomat, Fox News has learned. Despite being under investigation, Clinton and her staffers still have security clearances to access sensitive government information.

The department’s investigation aims to determine whether Clinton and her closest aides violated government protocols by using her private server to receive, hold and transmit classified and top-secret government documents. The department declined to say when its inquiry began, but it follows the conclusion of the FBI’s probe into the matter, which did not result in any actions being taken against Clinton or any of her aides.

Depending on the outcome of the current State Department inquiry, Clinton and her aides could have their access to sensitive government documents terminated.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, confirmed to Fox News the department’s formal inquiry.

Hopefully, the witch will lose much more than just her security clearance!

Why do Clinton or her aides need access to "sensitive government documents"?  She is no longer a government employee nor in any advisory position to need any gov't documents that you or I couldn't get access to.

Excellent question for which I have no good answer.

A Security Clearance is one thing. Circulation of classified material is ALWAYS supposed to be on a "need to know" basis.

So presumably, while a former SofS might retain a clearance status, there would usually be no operational justification of that person getting classified material.

Maybe she wants to sell something to Iran this time instead of China.

Pull her security clearance???  It's a little late for that, isn't it?

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Yeah!  I know! Just a tad to chummy for my tastes!

Second time that question has been asked on this thread and I still don't have an answer!  She should never have had one to begin with IMHO!

Already told you. She's writing a book. Except I put it in quotes the first time.

It's formally called "Need to know" and she no longer has a need to access classified information.

Depending on when her clearance was adjudicated, she could still have a "clearance" until it expires...typically for Top Secret, it's 5 years.  I'm not sure what the expiration is for those above TS.  I still had a TS clearance after I left a program even though I no longer required it due to my new assignment.  It expired at the 5 year mark and was downgraded to Secret.  I then had to go through the whole process of being approved/adjudicated for a TS again when I joined another program that required it.

I'm hoping that she has, at a minimum, been made to Non-Disclosure Agreements holding her accountable for any release of information she had access to.
