WASHINGTON – President Trump’s top spokesman Sean Spicer will soon shift to a new role inside the White House, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Post.
Spicer has stirred controversy on several occasions in his current capacity as White House press secretary, a position he has held since the new administration took over in January.
The former Republican National Committee chief strategist became a flame-thrower at the podium, often battling reporters over pointed questions and accusing various media outlets of pushing false stories.
A White House official said Spicer is “sick of manning the podium” and is expected to take on a different set of responsibilities inside the West Wing. The official said the timing of a formal announcement remains unknown but stressed that Spicer will remain involved “in the communications side of things.”
Politico was first to report the White House shake-up on Monday.
