You could be right but I got a bad impression of the guy during the Hillary emailgate. I don't think most conservatives are a big fan of Comey. But Newt still seemed to think he was great enough to praise him on twitter more than once after he was appointed. It would concern me if I believed these supposedly smart people were so easy to fool. I just don't believe that. Especially Newt who has been around long enough to know what's what. It's politics to him IMO. I don't know whether we are supposed to believe these people are really smart and saavy politicians or idiots. The rules seem to change from day to day depending on what is going on.
One minute Trump is a brilliant negotiator and it's all about the "Art of the Deal" etc. But when he gets tangled up in a mess of his own making it is that he is naive and unexperienced which is what many were worried about in the first place when he was a candidate. It can't be both or whatever is convenient at the moment.
That being said I don't believe much of what Trump has to say either. I do believe that Trump tried to influence Comey and wanted him to drop the investigation. Whether it rises to the legal definition of obstruction or not that is Mueller's job.
Comey has his issues but considering what I know and see of Trump Comey's story is entirely in character. In any case I want to get to the bottom of this stuff and I believe that we must. Too many unanswered questions and too many coincidences.
As for the Russian interference in our elections this too must be resolved for the sake of our Republic and the integrity (at least what is left of it) of our elections.
