WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States condemned a militant attack in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Wednesday, the State Department spokeswoman said in a statement.

"The United States condemns the terrorist attacks in Tehran today," said Heather Nauert, the State Department spokeswoman. "The depravity of terrorism has no place in a peaceful, civilized world."

Its not about being friendly to the government so much as it is showing compassion for the people.

And standing for law and order.  Terrorism is the enemy of every legitimate government and while Irans government may be a crockpot theocracy, it is still a legitimate sovereign power.

But this is the correct response, we should be speaking to the large contingent within Iran that is still friendly to the US, if not the bloody theocrats that run the place.
