London Bridge attack: Calls grow for May to resign as raids continue

Jeremy Corbyn and David Cameron's former chief strategist call for prime minister to go ahead of Thursday's poll

British Prime Minister Theresa May is facing growing calls to resign ahead of Thursday's general election as her record as home secretary comes under fire in the wake of a deadly attack in London Bridge.

The crashing of a van into pedestrians and subsequent stabbings at London Bridge on Saturday night was the third mass casualty attack in the UK in less than three months.

Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn, when asked if he would call for May's resignation because of cuts she made to policing when home secretary, said "indeed I would."

Corbyn said that May "presided over these cuts in police numbers and is now saying that we have a problem - yes, we do have a problem, we should never have cut the police numbers."

MEE is very liberal, not sure what to make of this. I'd probably still vote for May if I were there.

Same shit different country.   Any good crisis in and the opposition storms forward to demand a resignation or impeachement.  Bunch of bloody wankers.

My thought exactly.

Corbyn thinks that more police would have helped?

Reports are that the unarmed police ran away.
The armed police responded relatively quickly.

Perhaps Mr. Corbyn should push for arming all the police and making it a LOT easier for British citizens to be armed, before jumping into the deep end of the politicization pool.

Actually Corbyn thinks his country should get together with these thugs and talk it out at the negotiating table...he's more Chamberlain than Churchill.  His view would make London and all of England more dangerous than what it is now.

The Tories should have removed her while they still had the chance.  Boris would have been much better.

That's an insult to Chamberlain.    Chamberlain went to Munich, because he knew at the time Britain wouldn't be ready for war for at least another two years.   And he made damn sure after Munich, they would be ready.

Actually Chamberlain made the mistake of thinking he could reason with a mad man.  Hitler lied to his face...in a very calculated way in order to buy time to take over parts of Europe he had his designs on all the while telling Chamberlain they were only interested in reuniting the Sudatenland and the already annexed Austria and nothing more.  He kept England distracted with talks and a four power conference until he and Italy were ready.

Then after Chamberlain came back to London and held up that scrap of paper and declared "peace in our time" had been achieved...and with Hitler claiming that he had no more interest in any more territory...he promptly invaded Poland and introduced the world to the Blitzkreig.

That is exactly how the radical Muslim terrorists view anyone who wants to try and reason or negotiate with them...they are "little worms"...and they would do to Corbyn and any other soft spine European "leaders"...what the Austrian Corporal did to the leader of the British Empire.
