The German Chancellor has made a habit of being at the centre of history. With her words this weekend, she may have drawn another of history’s grand eras to an end...

Merkel is just doing what despots have always done - she's in political trouble for her own domestic policies so she seeks a foreign boogieman.

Wow.  She looks good with a moustache.  Too good.  In fact.... it looks very natural on her...lol.

"Centre of history"? Not in my book. Perhaps if the Norks or the Iranians decide to detonate a nuke. The European Union is one of history's "grand eras"? The author is deficient in world history.

Whatever Brexit wants to say about the UK, Brexit was the right thing to do.

I actually agree with the claim that the US let Europe down:  the US should have been loudly condemning the EU stance--Merkel's own stance--concerning immigration for the past several years.

Western Europe has proven beyond doubt that adding millions of uneducated, low-skilled people to a purportedly civilized country will not end well for that civilized country.

Oh heck, I've been kicking liberal asses a great deal lately, whether it be this topic, or the headlong rush to tear down Confederate memorials. You ought to see them when I ask them, "then you'd be in favor of dismantling the Japanese internment camps from WWII, or concentration camps such as Dachau or Auschwitz?"

Instead, Obama was a Merkel enabler for 8 years.

I am with Trump on this, but he's so lazy:

Quote
But backing out of the Paris Climate Agreement, hectoring on Nato contributions which are not even legally binding, and calling Germany “very, very bad” over its temerity to have its car companies provide tens of thousands of American jobs building its beloved cars in the southern states of the US are actions that must have consequences.

At least as far as that goes, this part of the article is spot on. I don't think anyone even pointed this out: German companies employ thousands of American workers.

Germany is stuck in a vice and the screws are turning.  If they could turn back the clock 20 years I'm sure they'd do things differently, but they can't.  Now they are faced with no good options.

And BMW North America is a net exporter of cars.
