I see your argument;  That you have friends and neighbors who are Muslim,  and that you don't want to believe anything which interferes with this relationship.

You have adopted these people into your "Tribe",   and you will brook no disrespect for them.

Like I said,  "Tribalism"  is inherent in human nature.

Good point, @DiogenesLamp

I guess I did the same thing back in the 2nd Clinton term.

Took a special affection for the illegal immigrant.  Interacted in business, and they became friends, and I've watched their kids grow up and get married themselves.

Of course, my attitudes changed with the advent of Obama.

Give people an inch and they'll take a mile.  Obama is what a mile of bad road looks like.

And their 'estimate' of Eleven Million was 'only probably about 12-15 Million back in 1998

Today, there's got to be 35 Million east of the Rockies.

Last estimate I saw said that if you include the ones that came here legally and overstayed their Visa...its in the neighborhood of 47 million.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Enough to make up better than 50 congressional districts.

Pretty much the American version of this:

WITHOUT the religious mandates for rape and beheadings.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

That outnumbers the population of most of the heartland.
It is likely a more accurate number, considering that 11 million number has been thrown about for eons. You know these people are making babies, and more have come in in the past few decades.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

You appear to be the first person who seems to have grasped the point,  and I thought it was a particularly good one too!    :)

Years ago I read a comment to the effect that "Most of us care more that our dog is sick than that a thousand people on the other side of the world have been killed in an avalanche. "

"Tribe"  and "empathy"   are both relative and proximate.    We people follow our nature more than we adhere to abstract theories,   even if the theories are consistent and sensible.

People who are near you and with whom  you are friends are your "Tribe."   An older way of putting it is "Kith and Kin."

David P.  Goldman opines that we should be killing those people till we've wiped out about 3 million of them.

He puts forth a pretty good argument for it.

my loyalty is to the Constitution's lodestars of individual liberty and self-determination,  .  .  .

Except of course when it comes to marriage and abortion, in which case you vehemently oppose the Constitution in denying the people the right to self-determined governance.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-

I can be crude.

When my niece told me she was pregnant again three months after having a daughter, she wailed, "People will think we're breeding like rabbits!"

I comforted her.  "No, they won't ... now, relax and get back to your burrow."

With our only unplanned I was crying and holding up the EPT while STILL sitting on the toilet. Sorry for the tmi, but I can laugh at it now. She's our snuggle bum and will probably choose our nursing home  :silly:
