Other forums I've seen have created a special section where they move threads that have devolved into nothing more than a mud-wrestling roller derby match of 'non wits'....lol....

where the thread can no longer be seen by the public.  They come up with cute little names for these areas..... (snake pit rings a bell).

We did that on one of the forums I moderated.  We called it 'The Alley'.  The only time we ever had to enter there to mod was when personal threats were made - other than that - we let those who wanted to brawl have at.  It was off the main news page and only open to members.

Only problem was (and we figured out the tactic pretty early on) is that supporters for the Left would immediately jump on a thread they did not like to begin tossing insults and goading the members into a fight so the thread would get yanked off the main and tossed into the Alley.  We ended up simply excising all the posts and replies that were combative and removing those from the thread on the main and tossing the argument replies into their own thread in the Alley.  THAT seemed to work.  That way those interested in discussing the OP could do so, while the few who wanted to brawl over it could do so by their lonesomes.

No. It was a good old fashioned DNC hit by the Clinton protection squad.  We know it wasn't the Russians who killed him because they use Polonium-tipped umbrellas, and we know it wasn't the North Koreans because they use female groupies with two-part contact poison on their hands.

You can put individual boards on ignore, right?  So, if it went to the backroom or woodshed or whatever, you wouldn't see it anymore?

It was a botched robbery, according to the cops, who seem to be the only people who investigated the facts and not simply their own political fetishes.

Yes, it looks like a person can choose to ignore an entire board and it says that: "This page lets you ignore particular boards. When a board is ignored, the new post indicator will not show up on the board index. New posts will not show up using the "unread post" search link (when searching it will not look in those boards) however, ignored boards will still appear on the board index and upon entering will show which topics have new posts. When using the "unread replies" link, new posts in an ignored board will still be shown."

I think this is excellent news, as it affords each INDIVIDUAL the responsibility to ignore and not see thread brawls that get moved down to a private room/section/page if they do not want to see fights.

And again, we made good use of stripping replies that were contentious out of otherwise productive threads and sent the combatants to their own thread that was linked to the main OP that began the fight - so they could continue brawling there, while the rest could continue discussing the OP.

Looks like you already have what you would need to deal with that issue.  It just puts a bit more work on you mods to handle, but it did help a little on the forum I used to mod to keep viable topics clean of sniping and backbiting - usually always by agenda-pushers and trolls.

Its kinda cute the way the lil Trumpers are all threatening that FOX will lose millions of viewers if they fire Hannity. Its a threat that rings hollow to a network that has already lost millions of viewers due to the likes of Hannity.

From what I've read Breitbart is also in freefall dropping from a ranking per views of around 30th to nearly 300th in the past 18 months.

To be fair, I think Breitbart paid a lot of people to visit their site last year.

The problem with deleting offending posts altogether is it also deletes anyone that responded down-thread to those posts, right?  A much better mechanism is the 'thread ban'.  That way anyone getting out of line on any particular thread would be banned from that discussion.  That puts an end to the agenda you've mentioned.

I don't have an option of banning a person from a thread, only the forum.

I could ask them to leave the thread and if they refuse give a timeout for the whole forum. The thread would need a Mod to keep personal threats in check....

I go with the facts. No the tinfoil. The only ones that have presented facts on the case have been the DC Metro Police. They say it's a botched robbery attempt.

I've seen nothing factual to disprove that. Just a lot of tinfoil and a bunch of people WISHING is was something other than what it is and delving into an area of the CT pool usually reserved for Libs.

I have no agenda on this issue so you can just squelch that bit of nonsense right now.

Show me credible facts that disprove the police determination and I'll listen.
