A lot of Democrat organizations are working to pick up all these elections around the country to create the impression that the Nation is rebuking the voters who elected Trump.    It's a propaganda effort that is backed by the big money donors of the Democrat party,   and for that reason alone it should be torpedoed if possible.

Your assessment is correct.  I believe there are four of these races for seats held by Republicans - two of which have now been decided (Kansas and Montana).  The other two (Georgia and South Carolina) will be decided on June 20.

The irony here is that the Dems want to make this all about Trump.  Montana was definitely an affirmation of Trump.  Yet Georgia 6th is not at all Trump country.  The Democrats have put everything they can into the Georgia race, and if they win, they will propagandize it as a victory against Trump, even though the Republican candidate is much more pro-Conservative than she is pro-Trump.

I still think the Republican will pull it out here in GA-6, but it will be damn close.  The Dems have registered a sizable number of voters to the rolls since the initial election.  Here is one of the GOP ads:

Great post, @DiogenesLamp

Thank you.   I just don't understand why people would let their own personal pique stop them from helping with the larger cause.

We all know my opinion of Trump. However, I do not expect that any negative fallout from what Trump has done will help the Dems as much as they'd like. Memories are still too fresh of what Democrats in power will bring: amnesty, socialism, social justice garbage, agitation, unrest, racial strife, and economic stagnation.

Just for the record, of the two people in the photos above, which looks more like someone who might body slam someone who was being insufferably obnoxious, and which looks more like someone who would provoke someone to body slam them?

@LateForLunch

But that doesn't matter, does it?

Asking a question isn't a provocation, nor insufferably obnoxious.  I don't care what you do for a living.  Not if the person being asked is wrapped tight.

Lots of people wanted to wait for the evidence (though it existed already) before making a judgment on this issue.  Yet, many have no trouble making the judgment (without evidence) that the reporter was behaving obnoxiously.

I know your mama raised you right.  You know that losing your cool is weak, and pounding on someone for nothing is a jerk move.  Doesn't matter if the pounder looks like Iron Man (and he sure as hell doesn't) and the poundee is a dead ringer for Richard Simmons.

My understanding is that a lot of Democrat organizations have pumped an enormous amount of money into the Georgia race.   They are desperate to  pick up any seats they can to change the narrative about direction the nation wants to go.

Why this is important is because they only have to convince the middle "wienie"  congressmen in the Republican party with this false narrative,  and they can get them to hold up the whole agenda.

People don't grasp the larger game that is being played.   The target audience of all this Democrat money trying to win elections is milquetoast mushy Republicans.   This show is for them,  and no on else.

You and your F***ing strawman.    How do you even get that interpretation out of what I said?

How do you make "Support the larger cause"  into "The end justifies the means"?

How do you come up with that?

Also your comment is an ad hominem  just by inference.

Because you said that "personal pique" (about assault) shouldn't  matter if something is "helping the larger cause."  The end -- "the larger cause" -- justifies whatever means (beatings, for example -- you extol their virtues several times on this thread) are used to achieve them.

You obviously don't even understand the implications of what you're saying.  You're a hopeless case.

The "personal pique"  to which I was referring was a hatred of Trump.    I don't recall MontanaJoe or Roamer having a strong opinion about what you refer to as (assault).   In fact,  I think Roamer said that almost helped convince him/her to vote for the guy.

This bugs me.  You and the other guy in Montana are not thinking strategically.   (Or you just don't care about the larger picture.)

A lot of Democrat organizations are working to pick up all these elections around the country to create the impression that the Nation is rebuking the voters who elected Trump.    It's a propaganda effort that is backed by the big money donors of the Democrat party,   and for that reason alone it should be torpedoed if possible.

Whatever is the Democrat/Media effort,  it needs to be opposed.   We should be part of the larger strategy to break their grip on Washington,  and everyone who has an opportunity to affect it,  should.

Not that it mattered to the outcome,   but you threw away an opportunity to help just a teeny bit.
I understand what you are getting at, there. If the win was that clear, @montanajoe didn't throw away anything, he seized an opportunity to protest.

As for the Republican Majority and how good it is, we'll see when they vote to repeal the ACA (again).

We can base our assumption that the reporter was behaving obnoxiously on past behavior by that reporter and his paper, The Guardian.

Even the so-called pounder ... the one I chose to call by the more accurate term 'pusher' has apologized.

He won.  You might consider letting it go.

The poster who voted for Mickey Mouse didn't say a damned thing about Trump!

Why does everything you don't like have to be because someone "hates Trump"?

That crap sounds downright unhinged after a while.

Next thing sour milk, runny Brie (ick, anyway), and wine gone over (or skunk beer) will all be on account of people who (allegedly) hate Trump. Mail delivered late? Magazine mangled? Misfire at the range? Flat tires? Cold French Fries at the drive through? Obviously all because people hate Trump.  *****rollingeyes*****

This isn't about Trump, it's about who will represent Montana (yes, the whole state) in the House of Representatives.

That is a valid point if it was clear that Gianforte was going to win.   From what I could see at the time,  it was not so clear.   It was looking like a near thing for awhile.   Some Democrat (Nate Silver I think)  is claiming that if he didn't win with an 8 point lead,  it was great news for the Democrats.

As for the Republican Majority and how good it is, we'll see when they vote to repeal the ACA (again).

I've seen people say that Gianforte is a Rino.   If this is true,   then it doesn't bode well for the repeal of Obamacare.    If it is not,  then one more vote to repeal can only help.

Well, there are eye witness accounts that have come forward. One stated that the reporter was "being obnoxious, shoving the microphone close to Mr. Gianforte's face, then when he tired to push the mic away from his face, the reporter grabbed his hand. That was what did it."

That's technically assault and battery. The law allows response with reasonable force. There is an old Russian saying, "One does not taunt a Grizzly then complain about the results". Not everything is or should be about legalism. Sometimes it's normal and good to just cut through the BS with direct action.

Gianforte apologized for losing his temper and overreacting. He owes no apology for being angered. Any normal person would have been angry.

Hell, in some countries (albeit savage ones) proving that someone deliberately made a person very angry by foolishly provocative behavior can get them acquitted of murder.

The poster who voted for Mickey Mouse didn't say a damned thing about Trump!

Not in that thread,   but I recall,  perhaps inaccurately,  that he (and the other guy/gal) was one of the one of the many Trump haters/denigraters/dislikers around here.

If that is not his motive,  what other reason would someone have to vote "Mickey Mouse"?   I suppose it could be general fatigue with the Rinos in Washington,  but I went with what I believed to be the dominant reason for most of the griping and discontent on this board.

Why does everything you don't like have to be because someone "hates Trump"?

Because it is the dominant reason I see for all the gripes around here.   As Dr. Gregory House said:  "When you see hoof prints,  you think "Horse",  not "Zebra."

It might be a Zebra,  but most of the time it will be a Horse.

I went with "Horse."

I bought mine from a repair shop. It had been abandoned. I paid 95 bucks for it, with attachments, freshly tuned up. It is still going, although Mrs. Joe likes the Shark better.

@LateForLunch

Gianforte's spokesman is the one who claimed Jacobs grabbed Gianforte's wrist.  Alicia Acuna and the other two witnesses say that didn't happen.  Besides,  everyone is saying the Jacobs guy is such a pansy compared to Gianforte the alpha male, Jacobs doesn't seem like the type who would grab his wrist.  Pajama boys are pretty pacifist, aren't they?

I think it's safe to say the wrist grabbing incident didn't happen.

Actually, no, a normal person doesn't jump someone for asking a question.  No matter how angry the question made him, a real man understands when violence is justified and when it isn't.  He doesn't behave like an out-of-control moron.
