Hah! No way. And my son had this girlfriend who used to sing in those joints and he had the misguided notion that he should hang around to 'protect' her.
But all the fisticuffs he observed ended with one blow. So his motto was, if you think there's a barfight coming, hit first.
@Emjay I have occasionally entered bars back in my drinking days,and can't remember EVER seeing a fight ending with one punch. I have seen a few where the punchee wished it had ended with one punch,but they didn't. Almost nobody knows how to really throw a punch,and there are some people who seemingly thrive on being punched. Ask anybody who has really been in many fights ,and they will tell you the same thing. There has been a couple of times when I have seen someone hit so hard he was spun around,and when he finished the circle he was smiling and laughing,like a child that had just been woken up on Christmas morning by Santa himself. You are in a HEEP of bleeping trouble when you discover too late you just decided to pick a fight with one of those guys,and you just can't tell by looking.
