WaPo: Trump asked intelligence chiefs to push back against FBI collusion probe after Comey revealed its existence

President Trump asked two of the nation’s top intelligence officials in March to help him push back against an FBI investigation into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government, according to current and former officials.

Trump made separate appeals to the director of national intelligence, Daniel Coats, and to Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, urging them to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election.

Coats and Rogers refused to comply with the requests, which they both deemed to be inappropriate, according to two current and two former officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private communications with the president.

Multiple sources tell The Washington Post that James Comey’s March testimony before the House Intelligence Committee prompted President Donald Trump to ask two senior intelligence officials to shut down the probe into possible collusion between his presidential campaign and Russia.

According to WaPo’s sources — “two current and two former officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity” — Trump reached out to both Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coates and National Security Agency Director Michael Rogers “to publicly deny the existence” of collusion.

Both Coates and Rogers rejected the requests.

“The problem wasn’t so much asking them to issue statements, it was asking them to issue false statements about an ongoing investigation,” one source explained to the Post.

Despite the Post’s sourcing, its report did not provide documented evidence of Trump’s requests.

Yep. We are hearing accusations of High Crimes and Misdemeanors, so the WaPo and the rest of the propaganda media have a very very high bar to meet here.

THAT I would prefer more than anything given his ridiculous antics with the Hillary exoneration.

But something in my gut says otherwise.

My wife is convinced that Trump was supposed to go down in the 9th Round for Hillary and decided not to - because you know - winning and all that.

So her thoughts are that all this is coordinated payback by ALL of DC.

Remains to be seen.  I simply don't know one way or the other. 

Both Hillary and Trump sucked in my estimation - and I didn't vote for either of them.

So in one regard, I don't care.

In the other - I want Comey to answer for his FBI misuse of covering for Hildabeast.

Why should they?  Trump handed them his head; they don't have to collect on it immediately.

It is very current as these things go, it takes time to consult a lawyer and get your ducks in a row before you step into the highway to "play". It's not as if this happened years ago.
