@Oceander

I think whatever he is hiding includes something about Trump.  I think that is why Trump tried to shut down the investigation of Flynn.  I came to that conclusion a few days ago as I couldn't understand why Trump was protecting Flynn as he doesn't give a flip about anyone but himself.  So, he is protecting himself when he doesn't want Flynn's investigation to keep going.

Trump's either guilty or he's handling it horribly. I am guessing it's the latter. That's just what Trump does, if he senses he's under attack, he attacks back, damn the consequences.

As you well know, the problem with Learner's invoking the 5th is that she made a LONG statement before she did it!

Which.... kind of negated the whole point of invoking the 5th.... usually and unless you're a special person with a magic "D" beside your name.

Wow.  I'm shocked.   I would have thought that you'd be saying it's both.   :silly: :silly: :silly:

Which, as Trey Gowdy pointed out at the time, amounted to her waiving the Fifth.  Too bad he caved and let it go.

Rush is talking about the Seth Rich death right now.  Says this story is getting legs, which means, I guess, that Rush is one of those "bomb throwers"...lolol.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but by procedure, the 5th Amendment doesn't protect you from appearing via a subpoena summons, only from testifying against yourself. He still has to appear and simply not answer questions he feels will be testimony against himself.

IE, he can't decline the subpoena, he can just choose to keep his mouth shut when he arrives.

Maybe a private citizen/taxpayer/entity can sue her in civil court for damages.

That is the way I understand it as well.  It looks like the committee is willing to "deem" it and let him not show.  If it were me on the committee, I'd want him to come in so the world can watch him take the fifth a bunch of times.

It's like the Filibuster in the Senate.  If the majority doesn't have the 60 votes, they don't even try, and "deem" the bill dead.  This benefits the chickenslips on all sides because the public never gets to see a vote.

If somebody can get past the liberal Judges waiting with their "No Standing" rubber stamp.  Seems to me there are cases out there.

I was taken to the woodshed last night by the mods for referring to forumers as "buttholes", so I need to be on my best behavior.  :tongue2:

Not to mention he may be asked questions in committee that don't translate to testimony against himself. For example, what is the department's procedure about something, what did you have for breakfast, what is your favorite color.

It reminds me of the new "no-pitch intentional walk" in Baseball.  I hate it because it cuts off any unexpected events like a wild pitch or a passed ball, which screws over any runners that may be on base.

I agree. Don't forget that Flynn asked for immunity in exchange for some information. It's possible that he does have something damning or it's also possible that no one thought the information was worth the immunity exchange.

I think that Trump was very concerned about this Russian investigation and the investigation of Flynn for several reasons. One of them being that he was aware of what Flynn had done and gave him a very sensitive job in his administration.

So, when Lois Lerner invoked the 5th, it was evidence of her guilt and perfidy.  But when Flynn invokes the 5th, it's evidence of his innocence?

That's nuts.  Flynn has something to hide.

What will really be interesting is if he's allowed to read a statement, then plead the 5th, as she did.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.
