Open War On The President

  Scott Adams renders the verdict:

I saw this quote on CNN.com today: “The episode is the latest woe for Trump, whose administration is engulfed in a series of scandals linked to Russia.”

A “series of scandals linked to Russia”? Would it be equally accurate to characterize it as a series of stories manufactured by the media, none of which have been confirmed to be a big deal?

Today’s headline news is that an alleged Comey memo indicates President Trump tried to obstruct justice in the Flynn investigation by saying to Comey in a private meeting, “I hope you can let this go.”...

I’m no lawyer, but I can’t see any judge or jury in the United States prosecuting someone for expressing a hope that the future turns out well for his friend.

This seems to be the first President who feels threatened by fictional news articles. His biggest supporters think he is so weak that blogs might take him down.

Just stop it!    In Nazi Germany they manufactured all sorts of fake stories about Jews.   Do not think that because propaganda is fabricated that it cannot do real and serious harm towards whomever it is aimed.

The ability to launch a constant stream of lies at a President is in fact a very serious and dangerous power.   They destroyed Nixon with it,   They destroyed George HW Bush with it,   they destroyed John McCain and Mitt Romney with it.

If you think the lying media is harmless,  you are a fool.   They are deadly.

That was the government doing it, the media doesn't have an army. Trump is the most powerful person on Earth and yet he should be hiding in a bunker because someone might tweet something untowards, according to his fervent supporters. They need to stop, it makes Trump look even worse than he makes himself look.

Again,  Stop it!   In modern America,   the "Media"  *IS*  the government.   Have you never seen a diagram of how closely interbred the media is with Democrat Party office holders?    The media is the party of government,  and the bulk of the government shares the same party as the media.   The media advances the narrative of big and bigger government constantly.   They are the propaganda wing of the "Deep State",  and the Deep State (AKA  "the Establishment")  is trying to recover the power they have lost with the rise of Trump.

You're contribution to this discussion  is to point out that when the modern media does the same thing as Nazis,  we aren't supposed to pay attention to this?

Goodwin is a left wing kook academic anyways,   and I can see why he really doesn't want to notice the similarity between the Modern "National Socialists"   and the 1930s era National Socialists.

They are uncomfortably alike.

Roll your eyes all you want, if you're going to throw scat out on TBR, at least have the courtesy to spell it right.

Speaking of Nazis,  ever hear of a "spelling Nazi?"

Yes,  I made a trivial mistake,  and of course that is the focus of your rebuttal instead of addressing the meat of my point.

A large part of the discussions on this site are nothing but flippancy.    People don't really want to reason things out,  they are just working at being the class clown.

More of a game of "the dozens"   than it is a meaningful discussion.

They are after power,  which works out to be the same thing as the loss of our freedom.   They don't really care about us,   but what they do care about has the effect of hurting us.

They want more power,  and it comes at a cost to all of us.

Hope you're coping.     *****rollingeyes*****

Spelling has only been a "thing" since the 19th century.    Don't get too wrapped up in a tradition with such a short history.

It's a damn poor mind that can only think of one way to spell a word.

Agreed.  There are no good guys in this mess.  The Democrats care only about winning; the media ... well, they're the media.

And then Trump....  Trump's only chance was always going to rest on acting like an adult -- one who took the presidency and the country seriously.  Don't say stupid stuff.  Be prepared so you don't have to walk back idiotic statements.  Go to your briefings and take them seriously.  Hire adults.  Don't act like a thin-skinned narcissist.  Don't use Twitter.

Acting like an adult, making mature policy decisions -- even if the Democrats and media don't like them, at least they'd be seen as serious, and at some point would have to be discussed as such.

Instead.... he brings gas to his own witch-burning.

Try as I might, I don't see any speeches or events in Salem, MA on Trump's calendar. A well crafted speech made in Salem could accomplish more than any Tweet ever could: take the time to lay out the fallacies/mistakes around the MSM's "witch hunts", and throw a bit of humor in there...but as you say, act/speak like an adult.

CNN, especially, has gone over the bend. This morning, I tuned to the channel, knowing without a doubt that I would see them hyperventilating about Trump/Russia, because that is what they have spent 92% of their air time doing for the past month, but what I saw was a a large-font Chyron that said: COMEY "DISGUSTED" BY TRUMP HUG.

This is news? Apparently there is nothing else going on in the world that CNN sees fit to report, when it apparently has a vital  journalistic duty to alert the American public about Donald Trump's alleged icky-ness. They ought to be ashamed and embarrassed, but clearly they are neither.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

It is only happening to this extent because Trump never fails to react to the media in a way that makes it worse and keeps the stories going for another day.
