Is it time for Trump staff to lawyer up?

Veterans of Washington's scandals say that with subpoenas coming from Congress and an FBI investigation still active, staffers would be wise to seek counsel.

Veterans of past White House scandals from Watergate to Plamegate have an important message for Team Trump: It’s time to think about lawyering up.

In the past week, a Senate committee began issuing subpoenas in its investigation into Russian contacts with President Donald Trump’s staff and other associates during the 2016 election campaign and transition, while the FBI continues its own criminal investigation. Trump himself fired FBI director James Comey, and then said in the aftermath of that decision that the Russia probe was “made up” and appeared to threaten Comey on Twitter.

Yeah, I don't know about this.  I'll believe it when I see it.  The left is so intent on whipping up a controversy, any controversy, it's impossible to know what to believe.

Of course, anyone subject to a subpoena should...and almost certainly already does...have legal counsel. But the question is, "lawyer up" against what?

There is no law against communicating with Russian officials during the campaign and especially not after the election (pre-inauguration). Unless someone has an audio tape or memo from a Trump official saying "release the secret documents to the public" via wikileaks...than there is nothing to investigate. And rest assured, if THAT existed, it would have leaked all over the place by now.

This is little more than a Dem effort to perpetuate their own wishful mythology that they lost the election for reasons other than a bad agenda and a bad candidate. Further, their base is made up of true radicals...genuine nutjobs...who are consumed by TDS and any Dem wanting re-election in a Dem district has no choice but to pander to these lunatics (and in fact, many of the elected Dems are themselves such loonies).

But the truth is, there is no there there...so by all means lawyer up, but as there is no underlying crime its all just an empty show with a jaded political intention. The saddest thing is that there are useful idiot Republicans...mostly moron level NT'rs....being complicit in this charade.
