Trump fires FBI director James Comey

     WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Donald Trump has fired FBI Director James Comey.

In a statement, Trump says Comey's firing "will mark a new beginning" for the FBI. The White House says the search for a new FBI director will begin immediately.

Comey's firing comes days after he testified on Capitol Hill about the FBI's investigation into Russia's election meddling and possible connections between Russia and Trump's campaign.

President Trump has fired FBI Director James Comey, the White House announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
"The president has accepted the recommendation of the Attorney General and the deputy Attorney General regarding the dismissal of the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation," White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters in the briefing room.
 
“The FBI is one of our Nation’s most cherished and respected institutions and today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement,” Trump said in a statement released by the White House.
 
The White House said that Trump "acted based on the clear recommendations of both Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions" and that a search for a new permanent FBI director would "begin immediately."
 
In March, Comey announced with the authorization of the Justice Department that the bureau was investigating alleged coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential election.

I agree.  Comey was dirty and he needed to be fired.  Also wondering (idly) why a snide remark about Ivanka belongs in a discussion about something GOOD that Trump did.

Because if he did it before, it would look political but since Comey was a disaster in the hearings yesterday Donny can can him without any issues. Comey dug his own grave here.
