Since President Trump’s election victory, we’ve heard experts proclaiming that it was Trump’s blue collar appeal that led him to the win. Free trade left Americans in rust belt states behind; Trump promised to quash that free trade. Government subsidies went only to areas beyond the horizon; Trump promised to bring them back. A solid mix of Democratic redistributionism and protectionism brought these voters home.

Trump jumped to the front on the immigration issue. That is the primary issue that garnered most of his support. His other issues like trade and deficits were minor compared to the immigration thing.
And remember Clinton didn't even bother to campaign in a number of battleground states that Obama had won easily.  But the illegal immigration issue is still to me the prime reason most previous Dem blue collar people voted for Trump.

He won because...

1. Hillary sucked donkey balls.
2. People on the right hoped for change.
