Two people have died after a cargo UPS plane crash landed and went off the runway at a West Virginia airport, according to officials.
Officials said a Mountaineer cargo plane went off the runway after approaching landing at Yeager Airport in Charleston at around 7 a.m. Friday, Fox 11 reported.
Initial reports said there was heavy entrapment in the crash. The aircraft struck the runway and a wing detached. It landed in a wooded area off of Keystone Drive.
According to local reports, at least four people were believed to be on the plane at the time of the incident. That number was decreased to two.
WSAZ reported that plane was en route to West Virginia was the Louisville airport, which departed at 5:41 a.m. Friday.
Airport officials have confirmed the pilot and co-pilot were the victims. No names have been released.
