@Emjay

That's what happens when you try to put a positive spin on something to the extent of ignoring reality.  This is Trump.  It's the man he's always been.  He just wants to claim a win, no matter how it happens.

@CatherineofAragon

I was bitterly opposed to Trump.  It got me tossed off FR.  When he actually won, and I saw how  devastated the left was, I enjoyed it.  The left has attacked Trump beyond anything I have ever seen, so I decided to defend him if he did something good.

That's the extent of my Trump love.  Now, he's managed to do something deeply disappointing and I'm certainly not going to defend him on that.

That "Proust" clown is an outright lying liberal scumbag and classic troll. He figured that there was no way us knuckle dragging conservatives could figure out that his namesake was Marcel Proust, a homosexual poet with a fondness for the young boys. He was however smart enough to know that pretending to like Trump would cause the simpletons of TOS to embrace him and even defend him against the likes of you and I.

@Cripplecreek

Didn't you run across him on Twitter, too?

I would imagine it'd require a heavier ball for one...

Texas is the exception. They need to start campaigning to form a multistate coalition. Something DC could not ignore.

That's actually not a bad idea.

I've been thinking that way myself lately. If done right it could avoid constitutional pitfalls.

I vaguely recall Proust from FR, isn't he one of those who should have been purged instead of conservatives?

@Emjay

You make a lot of good points, but--and I say this with respect to you, Emjay---remember that you spent quite a lot of time going from thread to thread, scolding and haranguing anyone who criticized Trump.

I'm just saying.

Thanks for the respect  if it is sincere, I'm not sure.  I would not call what I did scolding or haranguing but if that's your spin, fine.

I have explained time and again that, while I fought Trump bitterly during the primaries, I thought we should give him a chance to see what he could do.  He did some positive things and was better than I expected.

I saw a lot of negative posts about Trump here that were unjustified ... just knee jerk reactions to everything he did and I called people on it.

If you were offended by that, frankly, I could quote somebody that Clark Gable quoted.

Maybe he wasn't actually speaking his mind (being honest) like those conservatives were.  Ergo, why he's still there.

I'm seeing a lot of negative (anti-Trump) comments over there right now.  They can't afford to do a repeat of the same kind of purge they did during the primary.  They won't have any posters remaining if they do....lol.

@Night Hides Not

Someone on the Freepathon thread told Jim he would contribute again when the Cruz people are allowed (ha) back.  Jim said he has no problem with "those people" posting as long as they're working with FR.

The damn fool, his own president isn't even working with him.

He has no problem with 'those people' posting except how many hundred did he ban? How exactly can they post?

That would imply that they need to beg a bit first wouldn't you think?

JR acts as though FR is still politically active.

Its not. Now its just a damned discussion board. You don't ban people for having discussions on a discussion board.

Pay a 'return' fee maybe.

I wonder if someone here who was banned will email him asking about returning what 'terms' he will give them?

And not even a relevant discussion board. If you go to 4Chan, Something Awful, or other trolling sites, they all brag about using it to troll. I would suspect a decent percent of posters left are trolls and the rest are naive enough to believe them. (go to any Pizzagate thread for a good example of this)

I used to be a little envious of those who got tossed, but reading stuff like this I'm glad I left on my own.

I think that would be a mistake.  I think those real Conservatives should get very active and start twisting arms and taking it to the American people.  I say that because we are a very long way from starting a third party that could actually win.  I hope the next elections will get rid of some of the people who promoted this budget bill.

This budget is a total disaster.

Trump is defending it on the basis that it funds the military.  Would someone who knows more about the military than I do explain to me why the military is enough of a danger/priority right now that we had to pass this deeply flawed budget.  I think we could handle the only imminent threat quite easily.  (North Korea).

I'm telling you I am so disappointed and disillusioned right now I could cry.

   With all due respect @Emjay 'WE' Conservatives spent half of last year reasoning, begging and yes even pleading with the Trumpsters NOT to go down the road they took, the path of least resistance.

    If there was any hesitation by 'us' to label the GOP corrupt and immoral, it is all gone now, screw em, the GOP belongs to Trump and all those short sided people that let their anger get the best of them during the primary.

   IT IS TIME TO START OVER, just as the Republican party did right before Lincoln's election and quite successfully I may add, The days of a Ronald Reagan saving that trash pile are over and the last election proved it beyond a shadow a doubt for me.

   Just color me to cynical to give a damn about the GOP anymore.

TX introduced some mighty fine bills over the years, like jailing Federal Agents who break state laws, but they always seem to die in committee.  If this one got by the Legislature, that's progress.

@Cyber Liberty

That's because we have a guy named Joe Straus in the Speakers chair in the Texas House.  He was first elected Speaker by a coalition of Democrats and 11 rogue Republicans. All 11 of those Republicans have been fired since but Straus somehow remains Speaker even with a HUGE Republican majority in that chamber.

Joe appoints all committee chairmen and they do what he tells them or they are no longer chairmen.  Many a good piece of legislation has been killed in that chamber in the last few sessions and the ONLY reason any good stuff got passed there this time is because a few staunch republicans managed to force a rule change that allowed the body to overrule the Speaker's rulings while the Committee of the Whole is voting.

They peed their beds, now they can lay in them.

I'm sure they're welcome to join and discuss, if they can do it civilly, but I don't have to put bells on for it.  Hey, it's getting late in the day...can you pour me some of that wine?

Thanks, @Bigun!  I knew you would be able to tell me what the heck has been going on down there.  So much promise, yet so many ashes left in the mouth.
