Israeli strike hits Hezbollah arms supply depot in Damascus - source

Israel has hit the airport and other nearby arms bases several times, targeting Hezbollah

An Israeli strike on Thursday hit an arms supply hub operated by the Lebanese Hezbollah group near Damascus airport where regular supplies of weapons from Tehran are sent by commercial and military cargo planes, a regional intelligence source said.

The depot handles a significant amount of weapons that Tehran, a major regional ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, sends regularly by air, the source who requested anonymity said, without giving further details.

The source said the arms depot gets a major part of the weapons supplied to an array of Iranian backed militias, led by Hezbollah, which have thousands of fighters engaged in some of the toughest fronts against Syrian rebels.

Israeli Intelligence Minister Israel Katz, speaking from the United States, where he has been meeting US officials, to Israeli Army Radio: "I can confirm that the incident in Syria corresponds completely with Israel's policy to act to prevent Iran's smuggling of advanced weapons via Syria to Hezbollah in Iran. Naturally, I don't want to elaborate on this."

Hmmmmm.....

I wonder why Russia's vaunted S-400 AA missile system did not shoot down the Israeli planes, or the cruise missiles we launched a couple of weeks ago......

I saw this morning they were showing pictures/videos that were from the "Rebel-held suburb of Damascus" of Douma.

To make a strike like this, yes, one could be using satellite, etc. but one could well also have men on the ground, I never thought the Israelis could be in with the rebels though things have been said before.  Maybe they have some connections.

Really? I think that is overblown, certainly people in Putin's own orbit can suffer but look at the Russian ambassador who was slain in Turkey, I feel horrible for the man, God rest his soul but Russia did not really respond to that with any retaliation. Maybe they did on the battlefield.

Israel just bombed Syria, 10 days ago as well.

Israel actually was on the side of Russia at the UN, when there was going to be some sort of condemnation of Russia over Ukraine.



They have met numerous times, the last time in the last two months. The two get along together.
