by Katherine Rodriguez26 Apr 201724

A Marine was shot and killed at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Bedford, Indiana, early Saturday morning, police say.

Justin Lampkins, 25, was waiting in line at the drive-thru with his friends inside a truck when the veteran got involved in a fight and was shot, WTHR reported.

"Initially it was a fight or a dispute," DeWees said. Police didn't know Evan Schaffer, 22, Orleans, who was arrested for Lampkins' murder, had a gun.

A Facebook post by Alyssa Stahl, Lampkins' sister, said that Lampkins was in the fourth vehicle at the drive-through, and Schaffer was in the second vehicle. When the first vehicle moved forward, the second didn't, and another vehicle honked.

Schaffer got out of the second vehicle, according to Stahl's post, confronted the driver in the third vehicle in line. That person said it wasn't them, so Schaffer went to Lampkins' vehicle, and the window was already down.

Schaffer reached in the truck, grabbed Lampkins and punched him. Lampkins then got out of his truck to confront Schaffer, the Facebook post states. There were two other people in the truck with Lampkins.

"The guy turned around and shot Justin dead in the chest," Stahl wrote in the post.
