One of world’s biggest bunnies dies aboard United flight

First doctors, now bunnies.

A valuable giant rabbit that was “fit as a fiddle” — and destined to be the world’s biggest bunny — mysteriously died while flying United, a report says.

“Something very strange has happened and I want to know what,” fumed breeder Annette Edwards, 65, of the UK.

“I’ve sent rabbits all around the world and nothing like this has happened before,” she told The Sun. “The client who bought Simon is very famous. He’s upset.”

The famous client is rumored to be Trey Gowdy.

I think it was the Easter Bunny.

Anyway, Rest In Peace little bunny. I hope you are at the Rainbow bridge running around in a meadow, eating grass and dating lots of girl bunnies.

"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

To be serious, animals are, or were, not allowed in the cabin but put in cages in a belly compartment along with the luggage. I don't know about now but in the 707/DC-8 era that was always the front belly as the rear belly couldn't be pressurized.

The late Simon may have suffocated if the oxygen level in the hold was insufficient.

I know guide dogs for the blind are allowed in the cabin. I travelled once with my cat, I paid $150 to put her under my seat.

She did fine, she slept the entire way.

It probably got stressed.  Rabbits do that

She sure doesn't seem to have much trouble lifting what must be pushing 100 pounds.

That sounds about right then

The rabbit is large but te way the pic was taken makes it appear larger. Look at the woman's hands.

Just like all the hunting pictures you see. The hunter is always behind the kill which always looks huge.

I left my airport job in 1974 so my recall will be less than perfect. What you were allowed to do back then was first determined by law and then by airline policy. Maybe small pets were allowed back then but that's not what I recall.

I think all he has to do to fly with the cat is let them know, put him in a cage, and put him under the seat.  He's been traveling overseas with the cat for about 10 years..... South America, Europe, Asia.........  It's really pretty remarkable.

The cat is big, but will sit in a small cage for very long flights and not make a sound.

I agree that if the bunny was in cargo, that could well have killed him.

@Wingnut, I'm amazed how many doctors today don't know what a rabbit test was.

@musiclady

I'm not sure the cat would say that after spending 15 hours in a little cage and ending up in a foreign land, but yes...... he is well cared for, and well travelled.

If he could talk, he'd be multi-lingual, since son found him as a street kitty in Argentina (so presumably he understands Spanish), and he's lived in Central Asia and Russia as well.

The only place he didn't take him was Afghanistan, and I'm quite sure the kitty was fine with that.
